Eviction Defense Training

Evictions are happening every day all across our city, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. There are more than 80 legal eviction cases in court, and many more illegal lockouts happening throughout Rochester right now. Since the pandemic began, evictions have been responsible for more than 10,000 deaths across the country. As the second wave of COVID continues to grow and the weather gets colder and wetter, evictions will only mean more death. This has to stop. Over the last few months, members of the RHJA have been fighting back. In a massive win for our community, we successfully stopped our neighbor Chris from being kicked out of his home. But Chris’ case is only the first of many eviction defense actions we will need to take this winter. That’s why we need you to join us. Get trained in how to defend against evictions, explore what roles you might want to play in these actions, and learn about the systemic changes we are fighting for. The lives of our neighbors are at stake.
